This project is a key expansion project of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. Located in the core plot of the northern airport area, it serves as a critical supporting construction project for Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport to expand capacity and upgrade, improve the functions of the aviation hub, and enhance regional passenger transport support capacity. It is also an important supporting project for the high-quality development of Shenzhen Airport Hub. Based on the overall master plan of the airport and in line with the development needs of regional air transportation, the project scientifically coordinates the construction of multiple functions including terminal operation, transportation connection and site support, effectively addressing shortcomings such as insufficient carrying capacity of the airport's existing facilities and imperfect supporting systems.
The core construction contents of the project include the new construction and renovation of Terminal T2, supporting apron works, rail transit transfer system, ground road traffic system, parking lots and relevant auxiliary supporting facilities. Among them, Terminal T2, the core single building of this expansion, will focus on optimizing full-process service functions for passengers such as check-in, security inspection, waiting and boarding. The apron works can effectively increase aircraft parking stands and improve the efficiency of takeoff, landing, parking and scheduling support for airport aircraft. Rail transit transfer, ground transportation and parking supporting facilities connect the transfer channels between air passenger flow and urban rail transit, ground public transport and self-driving travel, forming an efficient, convenient and three-dimensional comprehensive traffic distribution system.
After completion and commissioning, the project will form an integrated terminal pattern with complementary functions and coordinated operation together with the existing T3 terminal area and satellite concourse. It will fully integrate the airport's passenger support resources, greatly increase the passenger throughput, flight operation efficiency and comprehensive service level of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, further strengthen the core competitiveness of Shenzhen as a regional aviation hub, better meet the market demand for the continuous growth of regional air passenger volume, and provide solid infrastructure support for the improvement of the air transportation network and the development of regional connectivity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
