Located in the Houhai area of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, the Shenzhen Bay Cultural Plaza sits within the core coastal urban belt of Shenzhen Bay. It is a major municipal cultural landmark project prioritized by Shenzhen. Boasting a total construction area of approximately 188,000 square meters, the building adopts "Cultural Raw Stone" as its core design concept. With a simple and solid architectural form, it integrates harmoniously with the surrounding urban landscape and coastal space. Breaking the enclosed spatial boundaries of traditional museums and cultural venues, it embeds functions including exhibitions, design education outreach, and public cultural activities into an open and shared urban public space.
The venue interior is planned with three major sections: permanent exhibition zones, thematic special exhibition zones, and international exchange zones, covering diverse scenarios such as art exhibitions, creative launches, academic seminars, and popular science education. Rooted in the Greater Bay Area and oriented toward the world, the project continuously introduces high-quality design resources and international cultural programs. Balancing professional academic exchanges and public cultural popularization, it delivers multi-level and diversified design and cultural experiences for citizens and visitors. Upon completion and operation, the project will further improve the coastal cultural cluster in southern Shenzhen, facilitate cultural exchanges within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and serve as an important public cultural carrier that hosts urban cultural vitality and showcases Shenzhen’s strength in design innovation.
